What is 한글날?
Hangeul Day (한글날) is a Korean national holiday celebrated every October 9th, commemorating the creation and proclamation of Hangeul — the Korean alphabet — by King Sejong the Great and the Hall of Worthies in 1443.
Unlike most writing systems that evolved over centuries, Hangeul was scientifically designed so that ordinary people — not just scholars — could easily learn to read and write.
Dibrugarh Korean Club brings this celebration to Northeast India, building bridges between Korean and Assamese cultures.

Student Stalls & Movie Screening
Student stalls at Bishnurabha Rangmancha gave young entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products, creativity and small businesses. The day closed with a screening of The King’s Letter, a Korean historical film about the creation of Hangeul and the legacy of King Sejong, supported by Windsong Café.

Hangeul Day Cultural Celebration
A vibrant programme linking Korea and Northeast India: two Korean songs and a Korean dance, alongside traditional Bihu dance and Assamese songs. A traditional attire presentation showed the many ethnic communities of Northeast India beside Korean traditional clothing.
